Friday NHRA Jegs SportsNationals Qualifying Results
Qualifying was the name of the Day as the JEGS SportsNationals kicked off on Friday during the Double Header Weekend at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Stock Eliminator continues to be the hot topic from Bowling Green with a massive 152 Entry count making a Qualifying attempt on Friday. Super Stock was also huge with 122 cars making the sheet. Class Eliminations are up next for Stock & Super Stock on Saturday. The Top Alcohol cars saw the track for the first time this week with Qualifying Session #1. The McPhillips Team carried over their momentum from Brainerd by putting Melanie Johnson atop the Q Sheet with a 5.276 ET. Meanwhile, Ohio racer Tony Bogolo sits #1 in Top Alcohol Funny Car with a 5.861 ET. The TA Classes will have two more Qualifying Sessions on Saturday with a few more cars expected to join in. Other Top Qualifiers from Friday include Jordan Ward (Top Dragster), Darian Boesch (Top Sportsman), Dave Dupps (Competition Eliminator), Ernie Neal (Super Stock) and Jerry Bennett (Stock Eliminator). Thursday Division 3 LODRS Final Eliminations Results
Thursday featured Eliminations for the NHRA Division 3 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series points race during the Double Header Weekend at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Jimmy Hidalgo Jr. ventured to his first NHRA Event since May, and managed to top an 144 Entry field to earn the Stock Eliminator Wally. Hidalgo defeated Mike Welfel in a Double Breakout decision Final Round. Defending Top Sportsman World Champion Darian Boesch backed up his recent Indy D3 victory with the win in Bowling Green today. Boesch let go 003, and put it 1 Above (6.246 on 6.23 Dial) to defeat Mike Morehead in the Final. Other winners for the NHRA Division 3 LODRS Points Race at Beech Bend include Frank Carpinelli (Top Dragster), Mike Farrell (Competition Eliminator), Donna Morris (Super Stock), Megan Strassweg (Super Comp), Ron Lower (Super Gas) and Alan Bush (Super Street). Wednesday Division 3 LODRS Qualifying Results
The Double Header Week of Racing is Underway with Qualifying for the NHRA Division 3 LODRS Event taking place on Wednesday at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The Big Story of the Day was in Stock Eliminator as 137 Entries made an attempt at Qualifying for the Division 3 Points Race forcing a rare 128 Car Bump Spot. It’s very possible the number could be pushing 150 for the SportsNationals event, which also includes the popular Class Eliminations as most of these racers are gearing up for the US Nationals next week. Frank Carpinelli topped a tough Top Dragster field with a 6.110 ET. It took a 6.227 ET to make the Top Half of the TD 32-Car Field, one of the Quickest NHRA fields we have seen in this class all season. Other Top Qualifiers on the Day include Darian Boesch (Top Sportsman), Craig Bourgeois (Competition Eliminator), Ernie Neal (Super Stock) and Paul Boster (Stock Eliminator). Wednesday Shootouts took place in the evening with the Winners being: Nathan Prose (Super Comp), Rock Haas / Jeff Jensen (Super Gas), Bob Locke (Super Street) and Bobby Fazio (Stock/SS Combo). Eliminations for the Division 3 LODRS portion of the event are on the schedule for Thursday.
