Sunday Recap

The NHRA New England Nationals at New England Dragway in Epping, NH is in the books for the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series classes. Sunday’s big story was watching the progression of Shane Oakes as he chased a Double Up victory in both Super Stock and Stock Eliminator. Unfortunately for Shane, he would come up just short in the Stock Eliminator Final Round to Todd Bednaz. But Oakes would not go home empty handed as he earned the Super Stock Wally with a nice .007 RT to defeat Joe Lisa. Another noteworthy final round we may look back as the Championship chase progresses saw Joe Carnasicale defeat Monty Bogan in the Competition Eliminator Final Round. Joe C threw down a -.58 lap to earn the crucial victory as these two chase this year’s National Championship. Other Lucas Oil Series winners today include Ava Meloni (Top Dragster), Eric Cabral (Top Sportsman), Jack Sepanek (Super Comp), Charlie Kenopic (Super Gas) and Jason Mazzotta (Super Street). The NHRA National Event Tour continues on to Bristol Dragway for the Thunder Valley Nationals next weekend.
