Sunday Recap
The Inaugural Chaos SuperNationals at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio wrapped up with Final Eliminations on Sunday. The Funny Car Chaos ‘A’ Field was an intense one with the two quickest racers of the weekend squaring off in the final round. A betting man would have put money on Points Leader and Top Qualifier Keith Zimmerer, but that’s why we don’t race them on paper. Zimmerer rolled the starting line beams turning on the red bulb, while Alan Bradshaw in the Dakota Pony Mustang Funny Car recorded Low ET of the Weekend for the win with a 3.642 at 206MPH. The ‘B’ Field was won by Dale Duche in his first ever Funny Car Chaos start, while Joe Pirrone took the ‘C’ Field title over Jordan Ballew in a great race. The Nitro Chaos ‘A’ Field final round came down to a unique Funny Car versus Front Engine Dragster matchup. This would be an incredible battle with the Mad Max Funny Car of Dave Hill taking the victory with a 3.610 at 215MPH to defeat Garry Wheeler’s Nostalgia Top Fuel Dragster, who recorded a 3.670 at 204MPH. Nitro Chaos ‘B’ Field featured an all Fuel Altered Final with Chuck Loftin’s Hemi-powered entry earning the win with a 3.943 at 176MPH pass over Anthony Whitfield’s Small Block Chevy-powered Altered.
