Event Recap
The next stop on the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series took place over the weekend at Redding Motorsports Park in Redding, CA during their Funny Car Fever event. Sean Bellemeur scored the biggest win of the weekend as he piloted his Family’s Blown Altered to the Pro Comp win on a holeshot 6.035 to 6.021 over Kin Bates. This makes for back-to-back weekend wins for Bellemeur, who was coming off of the Top Alcohol Funny Car win in Joliet. Jason Vanderpool earned the 7.0 Pro victory in a double break out over Brad Peters 6.978 to 6.917. The closest victory in the Heritage Series categories saw Jim Horne take the Nostalgia Eliminator 2 victory over Eric Warner with both racers recording a .002 RT and Horne coming out on top of the double breakout decision 8.587 to 8.572 on the 8.60 Index. Other NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series winners include Brad Woodard (Junior Fuel), Gabe Brown (NE/1), Joe Glenwinkel (A/Gas), Kevin Pope (B/Gas), Matt Sheppard (NE/3), Chris Rea (C/Gas), Sam Tucker (D/Gas) and Norman Bergman (Hot Rod).
The CIFCA Funny Car series was a big part of the Funny Car Fever show, and the final was a Good Vibrations Motorsports sweep. In the Father-Son final, James Maher took the win over his Dad Jim with a 5.987 ET on the 5.90 Index. The West Coast Outlaws also put on a great show with Pro Mods in 1/8 Mile action. Bret Williamson was #1 Qualifier in this class with a 3.882 ET. The Final Round saw Rod Burbage earn the trophy with a 4.298 defeating Dan Martin. Bill Anderson earned the 5.35 Index category victory over Robin Crowton on a holeshot (.030 to .064 RT’s) 5.369 to 5.363.
