An incredible week of Drag Racing at Mission Raceway in Mission, BC is in the books with Final Eliminations on Sunday during the NHRA Division 6 Points Race portion of the RAD Torque Systems Canadian SportsNationals. The Top Alcohol categories put on a great show for the Canadian crowd all weekend. Hometown Hero and Defending National Champion Shawn Cowie showed his strength yet again as he earned the Top Alcohol Dragster Wally in a 5.23 to 5.33 battle over Mike Quayle. Top Alcohol Funny Car Final Round saw Shane Westerfield and the California-based Rick Jackson Motorsports Team turn on the Final Round W Light in a great 5.46 to 5.47 race with Oregon’s Brian Hough. Former Competition Eliminator World Champ Cody Lane joined his Dad (Friday’s Winner) in a Lane-Family Comp Sweep at the Canadian SportsNationals as he won the Points Race over Dean Carter, who broke shortly after launch in his Dragster. Benji Martin avenged his SportsNationals Top Dragster Runner-Up by turning on every win light in the Points Race defeating Jeffrey Havens in the Final Round with a nice .011 RT and 2 over (6.821 on 6.80) Lap. Other Winners from the NHRA D6 Points Race include Paul Soares (Top Sportsman), Nic Shepherd (Super Stock), Brian Thompson (Stock), Mark Loftis (Super Comp), Cooper Chun (Super Gas), Tony Hopkins (Super Street), Cody Cumpton (Sportsman Motorcycle), Chris Stone (Super Pro), Craig Johnson (Pro ET), Conner Jackson (Junior Lightning) and Wesley Armstrong (Junior Thunder).

Saturday Recap
Action continued on at Mission Raceway Park in Mission, BC on Saturday as Qualifying commenced for the NHRA Division 6 Lucas Oil Series Points Race. Shawn Cowie led the way in Top Alcohol Dragster with an exceptional 5.155 ET in his Supercharged Entry. Shane Westerfield was only able to stage his Top Alcohol Funny Car once on Saturday, but he made it count with a 5.457 ET to edge out Brian Hough’s 5.506. Anthony Schmiedl threw down a great 60 Under Lap with his A/EA to lead the pack in Competition Eliminator. To show how close Comp Qualifying was, Schmiedl edged out Dean Carter for the Top Spot by .0003 (Three Ten-Thousandths of a second). Friday Recap
NHRA Division 6’s trip to Mission Raceway Park in Mission, BC continued on Friday with Eliminations for the RAD Torque Systems Canadian SportsNationals. The big story of Eliminations was the Juel Family Double-Up as the Brother-Sister team both earned National Event Wally’s. Justin used a .002 RT to gain a big RT edge en route to the Super Comp title. Sister Jessica had a tough Final Round Matchup in Top Dragster, where she was .001 behind in RT (020 to 021) but was able to turn on the win light with a dead-on 3 lap (6.993 on 6.99). Another big story on the day was Riley Toth’s incredible .003 Package (.000 RT + 8.683 on 8.68) in the Final Round to earn the Sportsman Motorcycle victory. Other winners on the day included Shawn Herbst (Top Sportsman), Jeff Lane (Comp), Rick McKinney (Super Stock), Jody Lang (Stock), Josh Mellof (Super Gas) and Cary Huber (Super Street). NHRA Division 6 Lucas Oil Series racers have converged on Mission Raceway in Mission, British Columbia for the RAD Torque Systems Canadian SportsNationals. This is part of a Double Header event with Thurs/Friday being the SportsNationals and Saturday/Sunday the Division 6 points race. Qualifying took place on Thursday for the SportsNationals event. Kirk Lenz threw down a great 6.103 on the 6.10 Top Sportsman ET cap for the #1 spot. Another exceptional pass was Jeff Lane taking the Top Spot in Q3 of Competition Eliminator with a 70 Under lap his E/SMA ’05 Cavalier.
