Sunday Recap

Race Day Sunday put on a show as usual as the Thunder Valley Nationals at Bristol Dragway in Bristol, TN came to a thrilling conclusion. The Pro Mod class is always unpredictable, and this Sunday Race Day was no different. After surviving a near miss with the Christmas Tree during his Round 2 burnout, Jason Collins made it to the Final Round against Mike Stavrinos of the AAP Team. This race would be decided on the Starting Line as Stavrinos let go of the Button .005 too soon for Red Light handing the Wally to Collins and the Scott Tidwell Racing Team. Stavrinos threw away Low ET of the Weekend in Pro Mod on this run with a 5.763, while Collins had trouble and shut off early. The Factory Stock Showdown also had a wild final round as Raymond Nash had a big wheelstand and ended up knocking down mid-track reflectors, while Jonathan Allegrucci cruised thru for another 2026 Wally with a strong 7.851 ET. Gerard Milette was nearly Perfect on the Tree in the Top Sportsman Final with a .001 RT, and used a 5 above (7.204 on 7.15) to Turn on the Final W light over Jeff Brooks who broke out (6.462 on 6.47). Another big winner on the day was Michael Brand in Stock Eliminator, who also scored a Semi-Final Finish in Super Stock. Other Winners on the day included Jacob DeLaune (Super Stock), Chris Childress (Super Comp) and Lauren Freer (Super Gas). The NHRA National Event Tour continues on to Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, OH in a couple weeks.
