Sunday Recap
NHRA Division 3 wrapped up a big weekend in Michigan on Sunday with Eliminations for the LODRS Points Race at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin. A Father-Son Final in Top Sportsman headlined the stories for the Day. Bob Mandell III earned the win over Dad in an all Pro Fab Race Cars Final Round after sweeping the Top 2 spots in Qualifying. Top Dragster saw an excellent Final Round between D3 Regulars JB Strassweg and Al Peavler. Strassweg took a 016 to 024 RT edge, and put it Dead 7 (6.267 on 6.26 Dial) to take the victory by 0004 at the Finish Line. Another extremely close Final was in Super Street where Kevin Myers took the win over Don Moyer by 0009 MOV. Other Winners on the day include Todd Frantz (Comp), Mark Sanders (Super Stock), Johnny Diekema (Stock), Dean McIlvain (Super Comp) and Bo Butner (Super Gas). NHRA D3 will be back in August with Races at Lucas Oil Indianapolis Raceway Park & Beech Bend Raceway Park.

Saturday Recap
The US 131 NHRA D3 Double Header Weekend kept on rolling on Saturday with Final Qualifying and Round 1 Eliminations for Race 2 during the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series’ return to Martin, Michigan. Jim Prevo earned the Top Spot in Top Dragster with a killer 6.101 ET on the 6.10 Class Cap. Another amazing Qualifying run was Todd Datweiler’s Blown Altered throwing down a 6.25 (72 Under) lap to earn the #1 spot in Competition Eliminator. Other Top Qualifiers for the LODRS portion of the US 131 Motorsports Park D3 Double Header include Bob Mandell (Top Sportsman), Ernie Neal (Super Stock) and Scott Klingler (Stock). There was also a Fast 4 Shootout for Competition Eliminator Top Qualifiers. Tony Pontillo earned the Final Round Win piloting Greg Kamplain’s C/DA to a 64 Under ET defeating #1 Qualifier Todd Datweiler. Final Eliminations rounds are on tap for Sunday in Martin. NHRA’s Return to Michigan continued on Friday with Qualifying and Shootouts for the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division 3 Points Race portion of the Double Header at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, MI. Division 3’s Shootouts always feature some excellent racing, and today’s was no different. Shootout Winners were: Stephanie Diekema (Stock/Super Stock Combo), local racer Rick Baad (Super Comp), Pat Debottis (Super Gas) and David Rickey (Super Street). Thursday Recap
NHRA Returns to Michigan this weekend with the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Division 3 Double Header at US 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, MI. Action kicked off with Time Trials on Wednesday and Eliminations on Thursday for the National Open. A pair of Homestate racers earned Wally’s in the National Open as Paul Brown won Super Street and Dahne Debottis took the Super Comp title. Brown defeated Richard Sperry in the Final who was 003 Red and threw away a Dead 6 Lap (10.906 on 10.90). Debottis used a solid 019 Green and 8.921 (8.90) to push Nicole Stephenson into a Breakout by .008 (8.892 on 8.90). Another big winner on the Day was former Super Gas World Champion Bob Locke as he defeated Deacon Kalish in a Final Round Double Breakout Decision 9.870 to 9.864 on the 9.90 Class Index. Other winners on the day include Andy Kronenbitter (Super Stock) and Nathan Riley (Stock). Qualifying action for the 131 NHRA D3 Points Race kicks off on Friday Morning.
