Charlotte NHRA 4-Wide Nats Race Results

Sunday Recap
The NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at Z-Max Dragway in Charlotte, NC advanced to a thrilling conclusion on Sunday afternoon. Pro Mod put on a killer show in the 4-Wide format with Mike Stavrinos taking a nine-thousandths of a second (.009) Margin of Victory on a hole shot over second place finisher Justin Bond. Right Trailers Outlaw Street thrilled the crowd all weekend in its Inaugural Event & the winner wasn’t a big surprise as Ryan Martin of Fireball Camaro fame got the job done getting around Scott Taylor in the Final Round, who was .002 Red on the Tree. Joey Severance (Top Alcohol Dragster) and Sean Bellemeur (Top Alcohol Funny Car) both used their Quickest ET’s of the Weekend for Final Round victories. Jonathan Allegrucci matched his #1 Qualifying ET 7.716 to the thousandth to win the Factory Stock Showdown Final Round. Keith Mayers nearly finished off a rare National Event Double Up as he won Super Street, but came out on the losing end of a breakout loss in the Super Gas Final Round. Other Lucas Oil Series winners on the day included Robert Houston (Top Dragster), Frank Altilio (Top Sportsman), Monty Bogan (Comp), Kent Hanley (Super Stock), David Barton (Stock), Lauren Freer (Super Comp), Tim Powell (Super Gas) and Keith Mayers (Super Street). The NHRA National Event tour heads to South Georgia Motorsports Park in Valdosta, GA next weekend.

Saturday Recap
The NHRA 4-Wide Nationals at Z-Max Dragway in Charlotte, NC continued on with a mix of Final Qualifying and Early Round Eliminations on Saturday. Justin Bond continued his domination in Pro Mod hanging onto the #1 spot with his Friday 5.661 as well as setting Low ET of Q3 and Q4 on Saturday. The Right Trailers Outlaw Street class is putting on an incredible performance in its first appearance in NHRA National Event competition. Kyle Canion laid down an incredible 3.667 ET to earn the #1 spot in the Final Qualifying session. However, Canion’s weekend came to an early end in Round 1 as Street Outlaws Superstar Ryan Martin found the combination to take out the top qualifier with a 3.724 ET. Angelle Sampey was the big story in the Top Alcohol classes throwing down a monster 5.182 ET in Q3 to earn her first #1 Qualifier of the season. Meanwhile, Sean Bellemeur jumped to the top spot in Top Alcohol Funny Car with a 5.451 in Q3 on Saturday morning. Jonathan Allegrucci continued to lead performance in Factory Stock Showdown with a 7.716. Saturday’s racing action was cut a bit short with a late afternoon rain shower. Friday Recap
The 75th Anniversary NHRA Tour continues on with Friday Qualifying for the 4-Wide Nationals at Z-Max Dragway in Charlotte, NC. Justin Bond leads early Qualifying in Pro Mod with a great 5.661 ET; he is closely followed by Mike Stavrinos and Chip King to round out the Top 3. NHRA’s Right Trailers Outlaw Street made its debut on Friday with Scott Taylor topping early qualifying with the first official 3.6-second pass (3.682). Taylor is followed in the Top 3 by Shawn “Murder Nova” Ellington and Chris Rankin. The Top Alcohol classes laid down great laps with Matt Cummings (Top Alcohol Dragster) and Bob McCosh (Top Alcohol Funny Car) earning the Provisional top spots. Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and Competition Eliminator wrapped up their Qualifying with Q2 on Friday Morning. Lauren McMaster (Top Dragster), Sandy Wilkins (Top Sportsman) and Joe Carnasciale (Comp) all scored #1 Qualifying positions heading into Eliminations. The NHRA Tour is back in action this weekend with the 4-Wide Nationals at Z-Max Dragway in Charlotte, NC. Thursday featured Qualifying and Time Trials for Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series classes. Top Dragster, Top Sportsman and Comp Eliminator all made 1 Qualifying run with Q2 on tap for Friday morning to set the field. Provisional leaders in those categories include Robert May (Top Dragster), Sandy Wilkins (Top Sportsman) and Monty Bogan (Comp). Super Stock and Stock qualified fields are set about their 2 Qualifying sessions on Thursday.
