Saturday Tulsa NHRA Division 4 LODRS Results (Race 2)
NHRA Division 4 wrapped up the trip to Tulsa Raceway Park on Saturday with a long day of action that included Qualifying and Full Eliminations for Race 2 of the Double Header. Incoming weather necessitated the proactive move, and led to a great evening of Eliminations. Chris Benham made a big effort towards a Double Up victory in Race 2. Chris was wheeling a D/Dragster Automatic in Competition Eliminator for the first time, and made it all the way to the Final Round. He would get loose and have to lift early in the Final, handing the Wally to Rodger Brogdon. Benham would shake off the Comp loss, and be victorious in an excellent Super Comp Final Round. Chris was .009 take 002 to be Dead 2 for the victory over Carson Stookey. Another headline story was the Super Stock Heads-Up Final Round (FGT/D) between Jimmy Hidalgo Jr. and Hayden Trumble. Hidalgo, coming off a Runner-Up in Race 1, was behind in RT 034 to 054 but had the power to earn the Wally in a 9.260 to 9.301 decision. Perhaps the coolest story of all was 86 year old Sam Pourciau winning Stock Eliminator with a Perfect 000 RT in the Final to beat one of the Best Austin Williams. Other Winners on the Day include Robert Cool (Top Dragster), Lance Abbott (Top Sportsman), Wes Neely (Super Gas), Wendell Shelton (Super Street) and Michael Nash (Sportsman Motorcycle). NHRA Division 4 will be back in action next month with their season finale during the week of Texas Motorplex’s Stampede of Speed.

Friday Tulsa NHRA Division 4 LODRS Race 1 Results
Wally’s were handed out for Race 1 Winners as the NHRA Division 4 LODRS Double Header at Tulsa Raceway Park continued on Friday. The Day’s Big Story was a near Double Up by one of the Best in NHRA Sportsman Racing. Jimmy Hidalgo Jr. earned the Wally in Stock Eliminator with a great 001 RT over Tyler Cassil. Hidalgo then came back around to face off with Hunter Pierdolla in the Super Stock Final Round. This was a great race with Pierdolla throwing down a 4 Total Lap (004 + 9.670 on 9.67 Dial) for the Wally to lock out Hidalgo’s solid 012 RT + 1 Above Run (9.393 on 9.38 Dial). Near Perfection is exactly what was needed to defeat Hidalgo on this day. The Stock Eliminator victory moves Hidalgo within a couple rounds of the National Championship lead with a lot of racing left to go. Another Big Move in the National Championship battle was in Competition Eliminator where Jeff Taylor scored a crucial Win. Taylor laid down a strong 56 Under Lap with a 026 RT to defeat Former World Champ Craig Bourgeois. Clark Mundt scored a clutch win in Super Gas with a Dead 5 Lap (9.905 on 9.90 Dial) to defeat Kyle Rickman in the Final Round to move him into the D4 class points lead. Other Winners on the Day include Donnel Gaines (Top Dragster), Mike Morehead (Top Sportsman), Nick Smith (Super Comp), Kent Hite (Super Street) and Tracy Helmhold (Sportsman Motorcycle). Saturday features Qualifying and Early Round Eliminations for Race of the Double Header at Tulsa. Thursday Tulsa NHRA Division 4 LODRS Results
A full weekend of racing is underway at Tulsa Raceway Park for the NHRA Division 4 Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Double Header. Thursday featured Qualifying for Race 1 as well as Pro 1 Safety Super Shootouts. Top Qualifiers heading into Eliminations for Race 1 include Wayne Landry (Top Dragster), Jim Thorp (Top Sportsman), Craig Bourgeois (Comp), Bob Cruzen (Super Stock), Jimmy Hidalgo Sr. (Stock) and Michael Mathews (Sportsman Motorcycle). The Pro 1 Safety Super Shootouts were also contested for the .90 categories with Mitch Marcy (Super Comp), Keith Purvis (Super Gas) and Dan Bain (Super Street) taking the victories.
