Maryland NHRA Potomac Nats Race Results

Sunday Recap
The Inaugural NHRA Potomac Nats is in the books from Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsburg, MD. Jackie Fricke earned the Wally in Top Alcohol Dragster. She had less issues getting down the track than her opponent Gary Pritchett, and was able to turn on the Win Light with a 5.478 ET. Meanwhile over in Top Alcohol Funny Car, Sean Bellemeur and the Bartone Bros Racing Team put on a clinic. Bellemeur nearly matched his #1 Qualifying Run in the Final Round with an incredible 5.393 ET at 270 MPH to defeat Bob McCosh’s game 5.453 at 268 MPH.

The Top Sportsman Final was extremely close with Ron Riegel using a .040 RT and .015-Above (6.725 on 6.71 Dial-In) lap to defeat Vince Fourcade by just two thousandths of a second (.002). Amazingly enough, the Competition Eliminator Final had the exact same Margin of Victory at .002 as Steve Szupka’s C/Dragster Automatic got to the stripe first for the Wally over Joey Arrowsmith’s F/Altered Automatic ’06 GTO. The NHRA National Event Tour carries on to Epping, New Hampshire for next weekend’s New England Nationals.

Saturday Recap
The NHRA Potomac Nats continued on Saturday with Final Qualifying and early round Eliminations at Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsburg, MD. The Top Alcohol Dragster class saw Joey Severance hold on to the top spot with his incredible 5.182 ET from Friday. He would be closely followed by Brandon Greco’s extremely impressive 5.188 ET in Q3 Saturday morning to make it a Supercharged sweep of the Top 2 spots. However, this feel good story would come to an end in Round 1 as both Severance and Greco had trouble downtrack & were unable to advance on. Moving on to Top Alcohol Funny Car where Sean Bellemeur stole the top spot away from Bob McCosh in Q3 with an incredible 5.391 ET. Friday Recap
The Inaugural NHRA Potomac Nats at Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsburg, MD is underway with a full day of Qualifying on Friday. Joey Severance made a statement in Top Alcohol Dragster Qualifying throwing down a 5.182 ET with his Supercharged entry to lead the pack by nearly five whole numbers. Bob McCosh similarly made an extremely impressive pass with a 5.450 ET in Q1 to lead Provisional Top Alcohol Funny Car Qualifying. The Top Alcohol classes will have one final Qualifying session on Saturday morning. In the other Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series categories, Michael Cerro (Top Sportsman) and Joe Carnasciale (Comp) earned the #1 spots heading into Eliminations.
