Super Gas E3 (6:10PM)

  • Notable Pairings
    • Brad Pierce def. Dennis Paz. Great matchup with a pair of Veterans of the Super Gas Wars facing off. Paz had the better Light 015 to 016, but it was Pierce taking the stripe first in a 9.924 to 9.927 decision by 002.
    • Larry Scarth def. Evan Kowalski. Scarth used a 012 to 030 Starting Line advantage to score a holeshot win as both racers went Dead-On, Scarth 9.907 to Kowalski’s 9.905.
    • Mike Wiblishouser def. John Phillippi. Wibs wins a great Drag leaving first 024 to 025, then going 9.914 to 9.917 for a 004 Finish Line Margin. Mike will have the Bye at 7 Cars Left on Sunday.
    • Pete Zak def. Marko Perivolaris. Zak pulls off the huge upset as Thursday Winner Marko comes up 001 Short in this incredible battle. Pete was behind 016 to 020 in RT, but earned the W in a 9.913 to 9.918 decision.
    • Super Gas is the Final Class of the Day. Quarter-Finals of all LODRS classes will start after E1 of the Mission Foods Series categories on Sunday.

Super Comp E3

  • Notable Pairings
    • Tanner Hiatt def. Dave Alves. Hiatt has the Better Bulb 013 to 020, and makes the right decision at the Finish Line to let Alves take the stripe with a 8.879 Breakout. Tanner was 8.924 for the W to earn the important Bye Run in E4 on Sunday.
    • Travis Theobald def. Michael Lane. Theobald with a a Killer 002 RT and takes 0008 Stripe to advance to Sunday.
    • Gabe Torres def. Glenn Kern. Neither driver crushed the tree with Torres better 028 to 051, then lands it Dead 3 (8.903) for the Victory.
    • Trey Vetter def. Bailey Naber. This pair lived up to the hype. Vetter left first 005 to 013, then takes 019 Stripe for the W in a 8.918 to 8.931 decision.

Stock E3 (5:50PM)

  • Notable Pairings
    • Justin Lamb def. Mark Born. Lamb comes back around after dropping his SS Entry in E2, and scores a decisive victory with a 027, Dead 5 Lap (9.315 on 9.31) to advance to Sunday.
    • Jared Jordan def. Darin Grossi. The B/SA Heads-Up was a bit of a let down as Grossi turns it 016 Red. It appeared Darrin had the Quicker Car as he was 6.270 to 6.313 to 1/8 Mile, but it will be Jordan advancing on.

    • Justin Lamb vs. Jeff Jerome

Top Sportsman E2

  • Notable Pairings
    • Jeff Gillette def. Chad Riley. Gillette starts the round off by knocking the tree down with a Perfect 000 RT and sets it Dead 3 (6.823 on 6.82 Dial) taking 004 Stripe to advance on.
    • Rich Okerman def. Dean Hall. Okerman gets away with one here as he has trouble just off the line, while Hall turns it 008 Red handing the Win over.
    • Ken Ratzloff def. Bill King. The excellent racing continues this round in TS with Ratzloff taking the win by 015 at the Finish Line with a 009, Dead 6 Lap (6.896 on 6.89). King’s solid 019 and 1 Above Lap (6.661 on 6.65) just wasn’t good enough in this round.
    • Bryan Warr def. Ed Olpin. Two of the Best TS West Coast racers squared off here. Olpin had the Better RT, but came out on the wrong end of a Double Breakout Decision by 006.

  • Notable Pairings
    • Robert Naber def. Hannah Cook. Naber lays down 004 Total (002 + Dead 2, 6.802 on 6.80) to lock out Cook’s 019 RT and Dead 1 Lap. Excellent Top Dragster action.
    • Tom Bayer def. Megan Lea-Gaynor. Bayer pads his Points Total with the Round Win here. Tom was 014 Green and 3 Above (6.186 on 6.15) to push Megan into a Breakout (6.662 on 6.67).

  • Notable Pairings
    • Evan Kowalski def. Greg Ventura. Both runners have had solid seasons so far in SG. Ventura would miss the tree on the Red side by 002, handing the W over to Kowalski who went 019 and 9.924.
    • Marko Perivolaris def. Anthony Broussard. Thursday Winner Marko is getting warmed up as he was 012 and 9.927 to defeat Broussard in E2.
    • John Phillippi def. Ryan Giacone. The Best pair of the Round with Giacone taking a 013 to 017 advantage at the tree. But at the Finish Line, John gets there First by 003 in a 9.922 to 9.929 decision to advance to E3.

    • Kevin Motter def. Dennis Paz. Motter was in a bad position off the starting line Paz was better 001 to 045, but Kevin would put it Dead 1 (10.071 on 10.07 Dial) to take the stripe by 009 to advance on to Round 3.
    • Kayla Mozeris def. Justin Lamb. Kayla pulls off the big upset. She was better on the tree 018 to 037, and put it 1 Above (10.487 on 10.47 Dial) to lock out the Defending World Champ.

  • Notable Pairings
    • Bailey Naber def. Chad Webber. Defending World Champ Webber turns it 001 Red. Naber had a solid lap to advance, 022 Green and 8.918 on the 8.90 Index.
    • Trey Vetter def. Nick Cobb. Thursday Winner Vetter keeps up the Momentum advancing to E3 when Cobb let go 005 Red.
    • Gabe Torres def. Andrew Morris. Great Drag here with Morris leaving first 006 to 013, but he made the wrong decision here taking the stripe first by 009 in a Double Breakout Decision. Torres with the W 8.889 to 8.887 on the 8.90 Index.

  • Notable Pairings
    • Jeff Gillette def. Bill Mizia. Points Contender Mizia lets go 014 Red handing the win over to Gillette. Jeff was 023 Green, and would have been a tough out.
    • Byran Warr def. Chris Esrick. This was a nasty race at the Tree with both in the 00’s as Esrick had the advantage 001 to 003. But at the stripe, Warr set it 2 Above (6.719 on 6.69 Dial) to earn the trip to Round 2.
    • Rich Okerman def. David Cook. This battle of two of the West Coast’s Best in TS was anti-climatic as Cook let go uncharacteristically late handing Okerman the win with an 014 light and easy 5 Above lap.

    • Ryan Priddy def. Joe Mozeris. By far the Best Race of the round with Priddy better on the tree 042 to 113, and recording a 58 Under Lap to Joe’s 60 Under. That was by far Joe’s Best Run of the weekend. Priddy loses 8 numbers of Index heading to E2.

    • Hannah Cook def. Al Kenny. Cook puts out East Coast hitter Kenny in Round 1. Al had the Better RT 013 to 017, but Hannah is closer to the Dial with a 6.513 on 6.50 Dial to win by 001 at the 1320′ Finish.

Morning Update

Cars are on track this morning at Sonoma Raceway for the DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals. Stock Eliminator hit the track at 8:30AM. Lucas Oil Series classes will run Round 1 Eliminations this morning, then continue on with Eliminations down to the-Quarter Finals in all categories after the Two Missions Foods Series Pro Qualifying Sessions.

NHRA Sonoma Nationals Friday Qualifying Results

Qualifying and Time Trials were on the schedule for Friday as the DENSO NHRA Sonoma Nationals got underway at Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California. Josh Lee led the pack in Competition Eliminator with his Altered (H/EA) throwing down a great .759 Under Lap. Another big number was in Stock Eliminator as Mark Madison went 1.200 seconds Under the AA/SA Class Index to earn the Top Spot. Other Top Qualifiers from Friday include Matt Woodard (Top Dragster), Mike Doushgounian (Top Sportsman) and Jim Grossi (Super Stock). Saturday will feature Early Round Eliminations for all LODRS categories. Live Stream of this event can be found on NHRA.tv at https://www.nhra.tv/ for the entire weekend.
