Friday Recap

Race 1 of the Maryland NHRA D1 Double Header is in the books after a great Afternoon of Racing at Maryland International Raceway in Mechanicsville, MD. Joe Carnasciale continues his quest towards a Competition Eliminator World Championship by earning another Wally. Joe C won a great Final Round over Steve Szupka where RT’s were tight with Joe having a 032 to 048 edge, and taking it to the Stripe with a 58 Under lap to Steve’s 55 Under. An odd Final Round saw Matt Lisa take the Stock Eliminator victory despite breaking something in the Drivetrain just off the starting line, while his opponent Defending World Champion Bubba Linke turned it 004 Red. Matt can celebrate winning the Wally tonight, and work on getting his car back together for Race 2 of the Double Header. Other Winners from Race 1 of the Double Header include Kevin Robb (Top Dragster), Robert Hyatt (Top Sportsman), Dean Mowery (Super Stock), Philip Mollichella (Super Comp), Richard Mattioli (Super Gas) and Donald Webb (Super Street). Qualifying for Race 2 is on the docket for Saturday at Maryland International Raceway.
