Beautiful weather greeted all for Eliminations day during the Laris Motorsports Insurance Cajun SportsNationals at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, LA. Former Top Dragster World Champ Danny Nelson added the first 75th Anniversary Wally to his collection defeating Bryan Sandlin in the final round. Perennial Top Sportsman championship contender Allen Firestone took the big W in the final over Jim Thorp, who broke out by .004 (6.386 on 6.39). Rodger Brogdon kept the hot hand in Competition Eliminator by backing up his Baby Gators win with another in Belle Rose as he defeated Kevin Duet’s Nostalgia Dragster in the final. Brett Candies keeps the Super Stock Wally right at home in Louisiana using a .021 Package (.013, Dead 8) to defeat Bryce Granier. Stephen Comella saved the best for last throwing down a weekend best 8.231 ET to win the Hemi Chootout over Anthony Rhodes. Other winners on the day include Dan Dittmer (Stock), Michael Holcombe (Super Comp), Jock Lisenby (Super Gas), Mark McCall (Super Street), Michael Mathews (Sportsman Motorcycle) and Grayson Herbert (Junior Dragster).

Friday featured Qualifying for the Laris Motorsports Insurance Cajun SportsNationals at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, LA. A schedule change due to incoming weather meant that all of Qualifying would be completed on Friday with Eliminations on Saturday. Anthony Rhodes leads the Hemi Chootout specialty race with a 8.304 ET. Competition Eliminator D4 Points Race Winner Taylor Chomiski stayed atop the class with a -.693 lap to earn the Top Spot. Points Race 1 for the NHRA Division 4 Lucas Oil Series at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, LA is in the books after a full day of racing that was capped off by some incredible final rounds. The headline story of the day came from the Hidalgo family as they drove to a Father-Son Stock Eliminator final round. Jimmy Sr. would turn on the win light with a .001 Margin of Victory. Jimmy Jr. would come right back around, and get his second shot at a Wally in the Super Stock final round. This would be a Heads-Up FGT/C Final between Hidalgo and Todd Erwin. Erwin would have the performance to get the W with a 8.68 (-1.12). Another thrilling Final took place in Super Comp, where Trene Cressonie for the Laris Insurance team got the job done with a .003 Margin of Victory. Cressonie was .001, 8.907 for .008 Total, while Chris Benham was .005, 8.906 for .011 Total. Incredible numbers in that SC Final round. Other winners on the day included Nick Brenner (Top Dragster), Lance Abbott (Top Sportsman), Taylor Chomiski (Comp), Shannon Brinkley (Super Gas), Tanner Thorp (Super Street) and Michael Mathews (Sportsman Motorcycle). The NHRA Division 4 Lucas Oil Series kicks off their points schedule with a full weekend of racing at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, LA. Wednesday was the qualifying day for the D4 points race with Eliminations to Follow on Thursday, then the event will proceed into the Laris Motorsports Insurance Cajun SportsNationals on Friday. Jim Thorp leads the Wednesday Top Qualifiers with an excellent 6.101 ET on the 6.10 Top Dragster ET cap, which earns him the Round 1 Bye on the 23 car ladder. Bob Gulitti shoed his Mustang to the Top Sportsman pole with a 6.187 ET. Casey Hall’s D/SM 3rd Gen Camaro topped the incredibly tough D4 Competition Eliminator category. Other #1 Qualifiers for the D4 Points Race include Don Barber (Super Stock), Jimmy Hidalgo Jr. (Stock) and Corey Elly (Sportsman Motorcycle). Also on Wednesday were the Pro 1 Super Shootouts for the .90 Index categories. Winners were James Jones (Super Comp), Todd Pullen (Super Gas) and Chucky Wier (Super Street). Pullen’s win was extremely close with a Margin of Victory of .0006 over Chris Huesers.
