The 2026 NHRA Season kicked off with the Season Opener for the Hot Rod Heritage Series at Tucson Dragway in Tucson, AZ. Pro Comp (formerly A/Fuel) was this event’s headline class and Wayne Ramay dominated as he earned #1 Qualifier & won the final round over Jerry Kumre with a 6.237/214MPH blast. Steve Faller won the 7.0 Pro category in his Blown Altered with a 7.191 on the altitude-adjusted 7.15 Class Index. Other NHRA HRHS class winners included Jason Barta (NE1), Tom Fowler (A/Gas), Jim Miller (NE2), Wayne Charbonneau (B/Gas), Don Mallory (NE3), Lee Roberts (C/Gas), Steve Barta (D/Gas) and Don Momi (Hot Rod). The Arizona Super Class categories were also contested as a warmup to next weekend’s D7 Opener at Firebird Motorsports Park. Winners in the .90 classes were Nick Alejandre (Super Comp), Bryan Morris (Super Gas) and John Bycroft (Super Street). Lenny Fyffe (Super Pro), Mark Johns (Pro ET) and Bob Thurston (Uncle Dan’s Tri 5’s) rounded out the event’s class champions. The next NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series event takes place March 5-8 with the Good Vibrations Motorsports March Meet at Famoso Raceway in Bakersfield, CA.
